Find Housing
The Office of the Provost maintains lists of property management companies, private landlords seeking tenants, and resources for academic visitors looking for furnished accommodations. We also work with academic families looking for tenants during sabbatical leave. Please contact us so we can share resources to assist in your housing search.
Please note that the University does not endorse or promote any specific rental agent, company, or vendor. All companies mentioned on this website are for informational purposes only. Contact Dillan Siegler at dsiegler@uchicago.edu if you have questions or suggested additions to this list.

Furnished Housing
Furnished Properties
Options for furnished apartments in Hyde Park are somewhat limited and many listings are from local property owners rather than a leasing company. Our office maintains a list of properties owned by local landlords who rent to academics. We do not visit or evaluate these properties, but compile a list as a service to academic visitors and local landlords. Please contact us to discuss these listings. For short-term housing, person-to-person sublets are listed on these websites:
- Airbnb: Many homeowners in the Hyde Park area rent rooms or their entire home.
- Facebook Marketplace: These classified-style listings are offered through Facebook.
- Sabbatical Homes: This is a resource for home rentals, home exchanges, house-sitting, and home-sharing for the academic community.
- UChicago Marketplace: This is a popular classified website run by UChicago Student Government. You must use a Facebook account to log in.
