Join the Office of Dual Careers and Faculty Relocation for a three-part workshop series based on the New York Times best-seller Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans. Led by Atiya Singh, a certified DYL facilitator, this series of three interactive workshops will introduce design thinking tools to increase creative problem solving. We’ll investigate Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s concept of “flow” and practice ways to frame problems, gain insight into honing decision making processes, and design three possible future life paths.

February 10 - Session 1: Design Your Compass: Introduction to design thinking and the life design framework. We’ll start a conversation about narratives that drive your work and life views.

February 17 - Session 2: Get Unstuck: Through creating an Energy Engagement Map, explore which aspects of your professional and personal life deplete and which enhance your energy levels. Following this session participants will work on their Energy Engagement Map and Flow Journal before the final session.

February 24 -Session 3: Design Your Future: Practice framing and reframing, using the tools of design thinking, and consider how your assessments inform different versions of your present and future. We’ll discuss creating an Odyssey Plan using generative listening and idea boards. Leave the workshop with an action plan and accountability steps.
